~ About
I am a game developer and musician with a wide variety of interests, but the themes of Nature, Technology, and Magic are most often present in my projects. I am fascinated by paradoxes, and so my stories will frequently explore the interaction of supposedly conflicting ideas... think science vs spirituality, macro vs micro, existentialism vs nihilism.
I hope to release titles in several genres, including first-person shooter, real-time strategy, role playing, and more. But even more important, I aim to hold up the following tenets through all my projects as much as possible. I believe these goals could be shared by anyone who wants to make the videogame industry more personal, pro-consumer, and pro-creator:
- NO Adware. Free software should be free! Not full of ads.
- NO excessive micro-purchases. Maybe a cosmetic extra to support the developer is OK... but constantly badgering customers to buy more tokens is not!
- NO DRM, NO server dependency. Nothing is more anti-consumer than locking your customers out of a product they paid for. If someone buys a game, they should own that game FOREVER! If the game requires a server which is to be shut down, then players MUST be provided with the tools to run their own server or else you are a crap company!
- NO "Gotcha" moves. Is this a free game until you hit a time limit? Customers should know exactly what that time limit is before playing!
- NO DLC. This is just a cash-grab strategy to get people to pay $100 for a $60 game. Annoying at best! Expansion packs should be well worth it!
- YES to customizability! Customers should be able to configure games to their preferences, and modding should not be discouraged!
- YES to respecting the player's time! You didn't start up a videogame because you wanted to wait, did you? This is why cutscenes should be skippable, especially if it's just an animation of a chest opening!
- YES to clean UI! Players want to focus on the game world, not navigating the interface!
- YES to representation! People of all ethnicities, genders, and orientations may appear in my games, even if those aspects aren't the main focus of the story!
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to check out my projects and don't hesitate to contact me with questions, critiques, or collaborations!
